During the week the village hall had been decorated by Rick and Heather Smithson with help from Brian Sanders and in the afternoon a group of members laid and decorated the tables and prepared the kitchen.

On arrival 56 members and our judges John and Pam Jamieson were offered mulled wine, wine or fruit juice.

Heather and Rick had organised a menu of chicken or beef pies served with potatoes, carrots and beans; a homemade vegetarian lasagne with salad and garlic bread was offered as an alternative. For dessert there were mince pies and a roulade with cream. The entertainment was provided by “Mr Rudyard Kipling” who told us something of his very interesting life. This was followed by tea, coffee and chocolates.

John Donovan organised a very successful raffle. The chairman thanked everyone for coming to celebrate the evening - members who had helped with the cooking and serving and especially Heather and Rick for all the planning, preparing and cooking they had done to make the hall and evening meal special.

The evening was judged to be a great success.
